Community Building

  • Set goals for social connections
  • Encouraged to utilize Academic Calendar dates as potential opportunities for filling a programming need; current key dates include- Start of Fall Semester, Open House, Whittier Weekend, Rush and January Interim. Do not feel obligated to program for all these dates; they are merely potential opportunities

Community Service

  • Create a vision and action plan for offering value through service

Professional and Leadership Development

  • Create a vision and action plan that utilizes and supports alumnae as a resource for professional development. Plan should be aimed at broadening the Palmer Society network.

Publicity and Communications

  • Create and execute a communication plan that utilizes multiple platforms
  • Set protocol and standards for content submission and presentation, including a standard graphic identity and language use that is consistent across platforms.
  • Establish a cooperation agreement with the active organization that serves all the Society’s alumnae communication and is adopted broadly as standard practice.
  • Recruit and organize content providers.

Alumnae Endowed Scholarships

  • Provide administrative support in awarding Palmer Alumnae Endowed Scholarships
  • Execute a plan to promote Endowed Scholarship Award applications through direct active outreach
  • Determine and recruit Endowed Scholarship Award evaluation team; oversee and ensure the integrity of the award process; communicate with Advancement on award recommendations
  • Develop a plan for Scholarship oversight with an emphasis on independence and accountability

At Large Members

  • At Large Members are not specifically associated with any one committee but provide material support and input to the council’s vision on an ongoing basis in an effort to uphold the Leadership Council’s mission.

Regarding Pledging Pride Wear

  • The Palmer Alumnae Leadership Council has published a white paper stating its position regarding the use of Pride Wear in New Member Education. We thank Sioux Thompson ’75 for lending her expertise in Organizational Development on this topic.
